Promoting Healthy Lifestyles at Fender

Healthy bodies support healthy minds; we are committed to promoting positive physical and mental wellbeing across every aspect of school life, helping our children to develop the knowledge, habits and attitudes they need to lead happy, healthy lives.

Our whole-school approach to healthy lifestyles includes:

  • Nutritious school meals that meet national healthy eating standards
  • A focus on healthy snacks and packed lunches, with clear guidance for families
  • Regular physical activity, including daily movement breaks, active playtimes, high-quality PE lessons and a wide range of sports clubs
  • Opportunities to learn about mental health and emotional wellbeing through PSHE, assemblies and the wider curriculum
  • Access to outdoor learning and our Forest School, which promotes physical activity, connection to nature, and emotional resilience
  • Partnerships with parents and carers, including workshops on topics like nutrition, sleep, and screen time
  • Access to our ELSA team if required

We also work closely with external health professionals, local initiatives, and our Family and Community Lead to ensure that families have the tools and support they need to make healthy choices at home.

By nurturing positive attitudes towards health and wellbeing, we aim to empower every child to live a full and active life, both inside and outside the classroom.
