The Role of Our Governors
Our Governing Body plays a vital role in the life of our school. Governors are a group of volunteers who work in partnership with the Headteacher, staff, parents, and the wider community to help ensure that every child receives the very best education.
The main responsibilities of the Governing Body are to:
- Set the strategic direction of the school by supporting the vision, ethos, and long-term priorities.
- Hold leaders to account for the quality of teaching, learning, and outcomes for pupils.
- Oversee the school’s finances to make sure money is well spent and resources are used effectively.
Governors do not manage the day-to-day running of the school – that is the role of the Headteacher and staff. Instead, they act as “critical friends,” offering support and challenge to ensure the school continues to improve and children thrive.
Our Governing Body is made up of parents, staff, members of the local community, and representatives from the Local Authority. Together, they bring a wide range of skills and experiences to guide the school.
By working closely with the school leadership, governors help to ensure that:
- The curriculum is broad, balanced, and ambitious.
- The school provides a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment for every child.
- Resources and opportunities are used to benefit all pupils.
Governors also play an important role in listening to the views of parents, staff, and the community. They are committed to ensuring that our school continues to be a place where children feel valued, inspired, and equipped for the future.
