Multilingual Students
We are proud to celebrate the rich diversity of languages and cultures within our school community. We are committed to ensuring that every bilingual or multilingual child feels welcomed, included, and supported to achieve their full potential.
Our multilingual provision is designed to meet the individual needs of pupils at different stages of English language acquisition. Whether a child is new to English or developing fluency, we provide tailored support through a blend of in-class strategies and targeted intervention. This may include small group sessions, vocabulary enrichment, pre-teaching of key concepts, or support with reading and writing.
We work closely with class teachers to ensure that EAL pupils can access all areas of the curriculum while continuing to develop their language skills in a meaningful, supportive context. We also value and celebrate pupils’ home languages and cultures, recognising the important role they play in identity, confidence and learning; children are welcomed to continue reading, writing and speaking in their home language/s until they feel comfortable.
We maintain strong partnerships with families, offering guidance and resources to help children continue their language development at home. Our goal is to empower every EAL learner to thrive academically, socially and emotionally within our inclusive school environment.
We also work with the Multi Ethnic Achievement Service who provide individualised support throughout the year:
