Student Committees

Student Committees

A big part of our philosophy at Fender is empowering our children to take an active role in school life and to have their voices heard. Our student committees provide meaningful opportunities for leadership, collaboration and making a positive impact on our community.

The School Council represents the views of all pupils and helps shape decisions around school improvement.

Our Eco Council leads on sustainability projects and environmental awareness, while our Tree Ambassadors support our forest school and biodiversity initiatives.

Our Wellbeing Ambassadors promote kindness, inclusion and emotional wellbeing across the school. Together, these groups help build confidence, responsibility and a strong sense of belonging.

Eco Council

Our Eco Council is a group of pupils dedicated to caring for the environment and making our school a greener, more sustainable place. Representatives from each class meet regularly to plan projects, share ideas, and take action to protect our planet.

The Eco Council helps to:

  • Raise awareness – teaching the school community about recycling, energy saving, biodiversity and other environmental issues.
  • Lead eco projects – such as planting, litter picks, recycling initiatives, and campaigns to reduce waste.
  • Improve our school environment – suggesting practical ways to make our school grounds and classrooms more eco-friendly.
  • Develop teamwork and responsibility – helping members build leadership, communication and problem-solving skills.

By working together with staff and pupils, the Eco Council ensures that environmental awareness is embedded across the school. We are proud of the ways our councillors take action to make a positive difference, inspiring everyone to care for the world around us.

School Council

Our School Council plays an important role in giving pupils a voice and helping to shape life at our school. Made up of representatives from each class, the Council meets regularly to discuss ideas, share opinions and work together to make positive changes across the school.

The School Council helps to:

  • Listen to pupils’ views – ensuring that everyone’s thoughts and ideas are heard.
  • Plan and lead initiatives – such as fundraising events, charity drives, and environmental projects.
  • Improve school life – suggesting ways to make the school a happy, safe and welcoming place for everyone.
  • Promote teamwork and responsibility – helping members develop leadership, communication and problem-solving skills.

By working closely with staff and pupils, the School Council ensures that the children have a meaningful impact on decisions in the school community. We are proud of the contribution our councillors make, helping to foster a culture where everyone feels valued, listened to and empowered.

Tree Ambassadors

A huge well done to our Tree Ambassadors, who achieved Beacon School status with the Tree Council for their hard work planting in the Forest School!

Our Tree Ambassadors are a group of pupils passionate about caring for the trees and green spaces around our school. They play an important role in helping to protect the environment and promote a love of nature among the whole school community.

The Tree Ambassadors help to:

  • Look after our trees – monitoring health, watering, planting new trees and maintaining green areas.
  • Raise awareness – sharing information with peers about the importance of trees for wildlife, air quality, and our environment.
  • Lead eco initiatives – organising tree-related activities, such as planting days, outdoor learning, and seasonal events.
  • Develop responsibility and teamwork – building leadership, communication and problem-solving skills through practical projects.

By taking an active role in caring for our school grounds, the Tree Ambassadors help create a greener, healthier and more vibrant environment. We are proud of their commitment, creativity and enthusiasm in making a real difference for our school and the wider community.

Wellbeing Ambassadors

Our Wellbeing Ambassadors are pupils who help promote a positive, healthy and supportive environment across the school. They play an important role in encouraging kindness, resilience, and emotional wellbeing among all pupils.

The Wellbeing Ambassadors help to:

  • Support their peers – offering a friendly listening ear and promoting a culture of care and respect.
  • Lead wellbeing initiatives – organising activities and events that encourage mindfulness, physical activity, and positive mental health.
  • Raise awareness – sharing ideas and information about healthy habits, emotional wellbeing, and positive relationships.
  • Develop leadership and responsibility – building communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills while making a difference in the school community.

By taking an active role in promoting wellbeing, our ambassadors help create a happier, safer, and more supportive school environment. We are proud of their dedication, creativity, and the positive impact they make every day.
