Curriculum

At Fender, we believe that every child deserves the chance to thrive academically, socially and emotionally. Rooted in the heart of the Woodchurch Estate, we are proud of who we are, where we come from and where we’re heading. Our mission is to help every child discover their strengths, passions and purpose, while preparing them for a successful future at secondary school and beyond.

Our curriculum is shaped by our unique context and driven by a simple question: What does it mean to be a young person growing up on the Woodchurch Estate in 2025? Through a rich, responsive and inclusive curriculum – one that is built around core skills, oracy, a love of reading and high aspirations, we create a learning journey that is ambitious, engaging and meaningful for every child.

We live our values every day:

  • Compassion in how we care for others and the environment
  • Courage in the way we take risks and stand up for what is right
  • Confidence in who we are and what we can become
  • Curiosity in how we explore the world and ask questions
  • Creativity in the way we express ourselves and solve problems
  • Community in the pride we take in our school, our estate and each other

Our school is built on strong relationships, mutual respect and a shared belief in high expectations for all. Inclusion isn’t something we talk about; it’s something we live. Every child is seen, heard and valued.

We offer outstanding pastoral care through a dedicated team (our Family and Community Lead, as well as our team of Emotional Literacy Support Experts) and a responsive curriculum that helps our children learn to look after themselves, as well as seek support when it is needed.

Our growing Forest School showcases our deep commitment to environmental sustainability. With 3,500 trees, a pond, a wildflower meadow and an ever-expanding array of biodiversity, our outdoor provision is a place for learning, wellbeing and connection.

Through inspiring teaching, personalised support and rich opportunities for personal development and careers learning, we nurture confident communicators, responsible citizens and happy, resilient learners.

Together, as children, staff and families, we are one community – we love the Woody!
